Its name, “the French Corner,” is a testament to the valley’s heritage, as it was settled by 200 Huguenots, including several winemakers who quickly recognised the area’s potential for wine production. Today, the Franschhoek wine valley has become one of the most prominent wine regions in South Africa. Shiraz-and-Cabernet Sauvignon- are the key grapes behind Franschhoek’s full-bodied red wines.
